R. VANCE McSPADDEN, JR.

CLASS OF 2012
 

Vance McSpadden was born in 1944 in Miami, Oklahoma, and raised in Muskogee.  He graduated from Muskogee High School in 1962, having been a State High School Doubles Champion as a Junior and a Singles Semi-finalist as a Senior. 

He attended the University of Oklahoma on a full tennis scholarship.  During his Junior year, he was the team’s Co-Captain and the Big 8 Conference’s #1 Doubles Champion.  During his Senior year, he was Team Captain and won the Conference #3 Singles and #2 Doubles Titles. 

He was ranked #1 in Oklahoma and in the Missouri Valley in 35 Doubles multiple times.  He has been ranked #1 in Oklahoma and the Missouri Valley in 45 Doubles multiple times and was ranked #1 in Oklahoma and the Missouri Valley in 55 Doubles multiple times.  Many of his doubles victories came with his friend and long time partner, Ron Cox.  Vance joins his Father, Vance, Sr., and his Uncles, Tom and Ray, as members of the Oklahoma Tennis Hall of Fame. 

He was elected the first President of the Oklahoma Tennis E&R Foundation and has been selected to represent the United States in the annual Gordon Trophy Cup international tennis competition with Canada.  He and wife, Pamela, currently live in Oklahoma City.  They have one son, James, and one grandchild.
